In respect to pass percentage, Kolkata is second in position after East Midnapore with 91.41 per cent.
Performances of Kolkata schools have turned out to be satisfactory in Higher Secondary examination. A total of 27 candidates are in the merit list from Kolkata whereas, in Madhyamik Examination, the number was only one.
Sanjukta Bose who has topped from Kolkata, topped among girls, and ranked second position in overall, is from Bidhannagar Government High School. Sanjukta who wants to become an economist said, “It was not possible without school’s help. I left no limit to studies. I tried to cover up everything in depth even compromising sleep. I knew that I had to perform well.” Satyam Kar from Jadavpur Vidyapith who stood fifth said, “I am happy that I am representing my school in the merit list. I love to read biology and prepared myself for Medical and now looking forward to the NEET result. I love to play chess other than studies.”
In Madhyamik 2019, the only student from Kolkata who was in the merit list was from Jadavpur Vidyapith. Pallab Ghosh from Patha Bhawan who stood sixth loves to play tabla. He has a special interest in Biology. He said, “I am looking forward to take biology related subjects for further studies and opt for academic line.”

Shreyashri Sarkar from Taki House (Govt. Spon) Multipurpose Girls High School, was ranked fourth. Arka Das from Sarada Vidyapith ranked fifth, Swarnajit Podder from Baranagar Narendranath Vidyamandir and Soumya Samanta and Mayukhmali Das from Nava Nalanda High School, ranked sixth, Swapnamoy Ganguly from Hare School and Deborup Sinha from St. Lawrence High School, ranked seventh.
Soumyadip Payra and Riddhiman Biswas from Pathfinder HS Public School Jodhpur Park, Srijita Ghosh from Bethune Collegiate School ranked eighth position. The 10th position was bagged by Dhruba Nandi from B.T Road Govt. Spon. Higher Secondary School, Deep Prakash Bose from Baranagar Narendranath Vidyamandir, Kamal Shaw from Gyan Bharati Vidyapith (Boys), Rhritajit Sen from Taki House (Govt Spon) Multipurpose School for Boys, Susovan Das from Deshabandhu Vidyapth, Komal Singh from National High School and Mahfuza Khan from Jahar Nandi Vidyapith.
Among Ramakrishna Missions, Narendrapore and Rahara have outstanding performances. From Narendrapore Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya (Residential), Suryatapa Basu, Bireswar Ghosh ranked fifth, Swarnendu Paul ranked sixth, Mainak Manna ranked seventh, Moulindu Kundu ranked eighth, Sayan Pan ranked ninth Mainak Jana ranked ninth.
In respect to pass percentage, Kolkata is second in position after East Midnapore with 91.41 per cent. The total number of candidates enrolled from Kolkata was 33,586, appeared 33,443 and passed 30,571 candidates.
